Those of you who have read over my past articles in the archives are sure to have heard mention of The Expense Grid. If not, take a moment to go back and check it out.  The Expense Grid is a valuable tool which everyone can use, but combining it with a written budget can greatly enhance the benefits you get!

Have you ever said to yourself (or heard someone else say) something like “after bills and my other expenses, I never seem to have anything left” or “any money I have just seems to disappear?”  Most of us have – or at least know someone who has – been in this situation.

Expenses come up everywhere. Dinner out because you don’t feel like cooking.  Birthday presents. Extra tanks of gas because you got stuck in traffic.  Some are avoidable, others aren’t – the trick is to knowing the difference between the two so that your expenses don’t control your financial health.

Establishing a clear budget can help you control your expenses and keep them consistent, reasonable, and within your capabilities. Over the coming week, I’ll address ways you can set up and maintain your budget to best utilize this powerful tool! (Just wait ‘til you see how much you can save when you combine it with the Expense Grid!)
